Ghost of Tsushima PS5 PS4 PlayStation

Likely side-eying how Helldivers 2's mandatory PSN account linking has gone down over the weekend, developer Sucker Punch Productions is making plain precisely what will be required to enjoy the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut PC port, out on 16th May.

If such things matter to you, the good news is that Ghost of Tsushima's single-player component will not require Steam users to link to a PSN account to play. However, the game's standalone multiplayer component, Legends, will require those linked accounts to play, a hill Sony appears ready to die on. So, if that's something you find beyond the pale, at least you have an excellent base game to become immersed in, including the incredible Iki Island expansion.

Spotted by Wccftech, responding to a fan enquiry, the official Sucker Punch Twitter account stated that a PSN account would be required to use the Legends multiplayer mode. However, experiencing Jin's epic, solo adventure will not demand the same from players.

Following the intense review bombing that Sony's decision to mandate PSN accounts for PC Helldivers 2 players kicked off, do you think we will see more PlayStation-affiliated studios try to get ahead of this prickly problem? Let us know in the comments section below.
